Groundwater found in Jeju Island can be categorized as soft groundwater, natural sparkling water, and saline groundwater depending on the qualities and formation of the water. Soft groundwater is considered soft because of its low hardness and has good minerals such as vanadium and silica. Natural sparkling water can be found in some parts of Seogwipo’s mid-mountain area. Natural sparkling water has a carbon dioxide gas density similar to carbonated water from famous French and German brands. Abundant saline groundwater can be found mostly in Jeju’s east coast area.
