Jeju Samdasoo implements a variety of management measures, in order to protect and conserve clean groundwater created by nature.

The Jeju Samdasoo has set up a total of 40 monitoring networks for groundwater levels at the surrounding areas of the Water Source as well as at downstream regions of the Pyoseon Watershed, where the Jeju Samdasoo factory is located. This makes it possible to monitor groundwater levels in real-time and to monitor the groundwater status every day.
Groundwater is water that exists underground; therefore, it is difficult to determine its status with the naked eye alone. However, it is possible to check the status of groundwater indirectly by observing the groundwater level. Jeju Samdasoo has set up a total of 40 monitoring networks at the Water Source and its surrounding areas. Jeju Samdasoo monitors the groundwater levels in real time and systematically performs groundwater management

Combination of observed groundwater level data and LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory),
a technology of Artificial Intelligence and deep learning

Researchers analyzed the observed groundwater levels data and LSTM, a technology related to Artificial Intelligence of deep learning, to determine the effects the intake of Jeju Samdasoo has on the changes in the groundwater level and its surrounding area.

Three scenarios of water withdrawal from the Water Source were analyzed with the use of LSTM.
It was found that water withdrawal from the Water Source by the Jeju Samdasoo has an insignificant impact on the groundwater levels of its surrounding areas.
Therefore, Jaju Samdasoo can intake from the Water Source in a stable rate.

In addition to monitoring the groundwater level, we have been purchasing private land around the Jeju Samdasoo Water Source since 2002 to keep the surrounding environment clean.
To date, a total of 710,000 m2 of land was purchased in efforts to conserve the surrounding environment in its natural state, preventing groundwater from being contaminated.
